Love's Holiday begins rambunctiously enough to satisfy Oxbow's established demographic of heavy-cravers. Goodnight, darlings! Don't have any nightmares, will you? At various other points, he sings of knives, monsters, misery, spread legs, the "dangerous game" that is "fucking", burning buildings and suicide (again). "PROSTITUTION!" screams Robinson on the second track. Now that those footings have been fleshed out into rock songs with lyrics added by Robinson, Wenner might think twice about using them to put his kiddies softly to sleep. Guitarist, keyboardist and composer Niko Wenner based the new songs on tunes he would sing to his young children. ![]() The music itself, we are told, comes from a place of love. Then again, if you flip any of the above items on its head or consider the true sentiment behind all this, it could feasibly be in the spirit of "Why can't we just get along, man?" Oxbow: brutal noise-rock's answer to The New Seekers. A lot of Robinson's lyrics have also been inspired by love affairs gone horribly sour. (On 1995's Let Me Be A Woman Robinson shifted his attention, wisely enough, towards the "many who deserved to die a lot more readily than I did.") Lingering in the background has been a hatred of the various oppressive systems and terrible human traits that keep us forever divided and universally destructive. (Robinson has described the first two LPs as notes for a suicide that, fortunately, he didn't commit, partly because those records happened to be so well-received). People could also be forgiven for believing that a lot of the band's material has actually focused on hate. Oxbow's 1989 debut was titled Fuckfest, not a phrase that appears on many commercially produced Valentine's cards. It is easy to understand why listeners missed the overriding theme. "But now listening to a record of exclusively love songs I can see how no one saw that." "I've always been chagrined that no one understood that our songs were love songs," says vocalist Eugene Robinson. That said, the promo sheet for Oxbow's eighth album brings to mind the thoughts of a certain hippie-ish knight of the realm. ![]() Perhaps Cupid has been enjoying a couple of relaxing weeks in the Algarve before he straps the quiver back on and returns to the business of arrowing Hellenistic Viagra into the pulses of suitable couples. The slightly ambiguous title of Oxbow's new record could suggest the absence of love, however temporary. Peace, love and understanding doesn't tell the half of it. ![]() There's also McCartney's accidental Manson-rouser, 'Helter Skelter', and Harrison's expression of resentment towards paying tax. What about McCartney's incongruously jaunty song about a hammer-wielding psychopath that almost drove his fellow band members loopy because he insisted on recording so many takes? Or 'Paperback Writer', written to meet the explicit challenge of avoiding the subject of love altogether and thus opening the door to a world of possibilities? There are Lennon's crueller, sorrowful or more surreal moments, plus that postmodern piece about the onion. There's a very good spirit behind it all." While this makes for a moment of rose-tinted warmth, especially after George Harrison's typically gloomier observation about The Beatles having sacrificed their "nervous systems" to the masses, the exceptions are plentiful. Most of their songs, he claims, "dealt with love, peace, understanding. ![]() Towards the end of The Beatles' Anthology documentary, Paul McCartney makes a cheerful sweeping statement about his old band's back-catalogue.

The most popular projective technique, in terms of frequency of clinical and research application, is the Rorschach Inkblot Test. Resources ORGANIZATIONSĪmerican Psychological Association (APA). Normal resultsīecause of the complexity of the scoring process and the projective nature of the test, results for the HIT should only be interpreted by a clinically trained psychologist, psychiatrist, or appropriately trained mental health professional. Swiss psychiatrist Herman Rorschach (18841922) published the manual for his famous inkblot test in 1921, the year before his death, and did not have a chance to follow up on his initial work. Many insurance plans cover all or a portion of diagnostic psychological testing. Routh, in Comprehensive Clinical Psychology, 1998 1.01.11.7 The Rorschach Test. Billing time typically includes test administration, scoring and interpretation, and reporting. ![]() The 1997 Medicare reimbursement rate for psychological and neuropsychological testing is $58.35 an hour. In group testing, 30-45 inkblots are projected onto a screen and test subjects provide written responses to each inkblot. The HIT can also be administered in a group setting. The HIT is then scored against 22 personality-related characteristics. The Administration of the HIT typically takes 50-80 minutes. Occasionally, the examiner may ask the test subject to clarify or elaborate on a response. Only one response per inkblot is requested. The examiner hands each card to the subject and asks the test subject what he or she sees in the inkblot. The test administrator, or examiner, has a stack of 47 cards with inkblots (45 test cards and 2 practice cards) face down in front of him or her. Unlike the Rorschach, the Holtzman is a standardized measurement with clearly defined objective scoring criteria. The test was designed to overcome some of the deficiencies of its famous predecessor, the Rorschach Inkblot Test. The HIT, developed by psychologist Wayne Holtzman and colleagues, was introduced in 1961. If the examiner is not well-trained in psychometric evaluation, subjective interpretations may affect the outcome of the test. Some consider projective tests to be less reliable than objective personality tests. The HIT should be administered and interpreted by a trained psychologist, psychiatrist, or appropriately trained mental health professional. Psychometric testing requires a clinically trained examiner. It is sometimes used as a diagnostic tool in assessing schizophrenia, depression, addiction, and character disorders. The HIT is used to assess the personality structure of a test subject. The Holtzman Inkblot Technique (HIT) is a projective personality assessment test for persons ages five and up. ![]() ![]() I almost gave up several times and I read every forum I could find on the subject from top to bottom several times. I just spent several days trying to get reaper to connect to mixbus via Jack. I came across a lot of forums with a lot of scattered info so hopefully these posts will help some people save time in their setup. I'm cross posting this from my other post. it's a real pity harrison didnt choose a more stable/better platform. just had my first 'blue screen of death' in about 4 years. Hi bladerunner, have been looking at previous similar posts and yes, of course, your correct. There should be a way of achieving the result you're after - I'm sure there's a thread at their forum for wiring it up to Sonar and Pro Tools. Not a problem for me as I don't really use presets but it could be a major issue for others. I did find that preset loading - either with a plugins own preset management or with Mixbus's own - is extremely problematic. Then I just hid all the ones that didn't work so well (there's an option to hide plugins in the plugin management window). I had to go through all of my plugins (loading them into a project, changing some parameters, saving it and reloading it) to see if they were working ok. Yes, it does require a bit of elbow grease to get it working nicely but it is worth it I think. You might have to initiate the Mixbus scan a few times to get through all your plugins - if it chokes on a certain plugin it may or may not continue the scan. Mixbus is built with Ardour - it's one and the same software so it can't be 'loaded' without it. apart from the analogue mixbus console emulation (everything appears very beta and underdeveloped to me).Įssentially want i am after is reaper with a plugin harrison mixer to take all my tracks from a reaper project and mix in the harrison mixer without ardour if that makes sense. reaper just scans and loads everything without any trouble. any help and an easy newby guide would be very much appreciated.įorgive the newby question but do you have to load via ardour?, i have had nothing but grief trying to load plugins into mixbus. windows 7 64 bit albeit they had the 'jack' options appear in reaper audio prefernces. I noticed a post from a while back where someone achieved this with a similar set-up to mine i.e. I can of course copy audio files into ardour but then your still working with ardour which is unstable (as well as awful) and that cripples workflow if you want to do some reaper stuff whilst mixing. I would ideally like to open the harrison mixer as easily as you would open the reaper mixer within reaper. i am using RME FIREFACE 800, can only see ASIO FIREFACE. i cannot find this elusive 'jack' that harrison provides. Under item-open item in editor, all the options are greyed out. Under options-preferences, i have selected 'external editors' and loaded the mixbus exe file. i am only moderately canny with this stuff so please excuse any silly/obvious mistakes. mixbus comes with ardour which is beyond awful when compared to reaper. Anyone had success with using reaper to record and mixbus to mix?. ![]() You can send the file to yourself via WhatsApp or Telegram, use the USB cable to transfer files, or upload it to Google Drive and then download it on your phone.
